Garvey was head of the US Federal Aviation Administration from 1997 to 2002, becoming the first administrator appointed to a five-year term, the first female administrator and the first who was not a licensed pilot.
She joined Bombardier, which manufacturers airplanes and trains, last year.
"I would like to thank Jane Garvey for her sound advice and guidance during her tenure," said Bombardier chairman Laurent Beaudoin. "We wish her great success."
